Root apex resection is a surgical procedure aimed at preserving the tooth even when an inflammatory process or cyst develops at the root tip. During the operation on a single-rooted tooth, the upper part of the root is resected, and the cystic formation is simultaneously removed, resulting in the preservation of the tooth and its function.
The manipulation is performed under local anesthesia and lasts approximately 30–40 minutes on average. After the procedure is completed, the healing process begins, and within a few months, healthy bone tissue is restored at the site of the cyst.
